This BLOG is where I am documenting my genealogical journey into the Hollingsworth Family from 1682 to 1980 (and beyond).
My maternal Grandmother is the last line of the HOLLINGSWORTH name. She was born in 1910 and died in 1980.

Introduction Information
Hi Bobbie Jean,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Randy Hollingsworth and I am the President and Genealogist for the Descendants of Valentine Hollingsworth Sr. Society (DVHSS), the national Hollingsworth surname organization. You can check us out at www.dvhss.org and on Facebook under our organization name above. I hope you will check out our site and FB page and perhaps consider joining our Society. You have lots of Thomas of Hollingsworth cousins in our organization. We hold annual reunions, next year will be in Winchester, VA, where your ancestor Abraham and his son Isaac built "Abrams Delight", today, the oldest standing building in Winchester and a terrific museum.
First, I wanted to congratulate you on your Hollingsworth blog and the history you shared on your family line. Our Hollingsworth database (with over 60,000 descendants of Valentine and their spouses) confirms your line down to your grandmother.
I wanted to share that ongoing research and new DNA evidence uncovered by DVHSS and other allied Hollingsworth researchers indicates that the family is likely of Norman origin. Valentine's father was named Henry Hollingsworth, and he first shows up in a Muster Roll in County Armagh in today's Northern Ireland in 1630. Valentine's birth to Henry and wife Katherine (last name unknown) shows up in Quaker records in 1632.There is also no credible, source data backed evidence as to who Henry's father was, but it was certainly not Robert Hollingworth of Hollingworth Hall based on parish records and DNA. Also, Hollingworth Hall was demolished during WWII, but the local parish church, with its Hollingworth wing, does still stand with a stained glass window that has the Hollingworth COA of the last owner of Hollingworth Hall before it was sold out of the family.
Research is ongoing regarding Henry's origins both via English and Irish records and via DNA testing. Updates are provided to our members on a regular basis. Please email me if you have any questions regarding the info above or regarding DVHSS.
